Theft of baby formula leads to chase through Wyomissing, West Reading

Wal-Mart security guards called police after a woman took more than $350 worth of baby formula and clothing about noon Oct. 30 from the store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. She ran from the store and got in a vehicle that borough police spotted at State Hill Road and Penn Avenue. The vehicle continued east on Penn Avenue, where West Reading police took over the chase, following it into Reading when city police finally stopped the vehicle. The suspect, a 32-year-old Reading woman, was arrested and charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, fleeing police and driving with a suspended license. She was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Woman cheats store out of new television

A woman bought a 46-inch Sony television for $845 from a Wal-Mart in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. Later that day she returned the TV and received a credit back on her credit card. When employees opened the box, they found an old, defective television inside (though it was still a 46-inch Sony). A representative from the store called police Oct. 26 to report the theft.

Theft suspect fights with security at Wal-Mart in Wyomissing

A man hid a bunch of video games on him about 1:07 p.m. March 23 and tried to walk out of the Wal-Mart store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. A security guard tried to stop him, and he tried to fight his way out. It didn’t work. Borough police arrived and released the man pending theft charges. The video games were worth more than $300.

New York man accused of shoplifting from Wal-Mart in Wyomissing

A store security guard stopped a man who tried to steal a $179 digital camera and a $149 camcorder from the display shelves about 12:39 p.m. Dec. 31 from the Wal-Mart in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. The thief got as far as the main entrance before the guard stopped him. After borough police arrived the suspect, a 32-year-old man, claimed he lived in Reaading but his only valid ID was a New York state identification card. He was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Reading man faces theft charges

Wyomissing police charged a 39-year-old Reading man on Nov. 12 with retail theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property. The charges stem from an investigation into a theft that took place Oct. 27 at the Wal-Mart store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing.

Woman faces charges in Wal-Mart shoplifting incident

Store security stopped a woman about 9:25 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Wal-Mart store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing after she tried to make off with $352.75 in store merchandise. Borough police said the woman had no prior convictions and released her, expecting to file charges later.

Pair arrested in theft of DVDs

Two people stole $608.90 worth of DVDs in the afternoon of July 14 from the Wal-Mart in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. Police stopped the suspects a short distance away and arrested them. A 40-year-old Reading man and a 20-year-old Reading woman were charged with retail theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property and each was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
