Theft of baby formula leads to chase through Wyomissing, West Reading

Wal-Mart security guards called police after a woman took more than $350 worth of baby formula and clothing about noon Oct. 30 from the store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. She ran from the store and got in a vehicle that borough police spotted at State Hill Road and Penn Avenue. The vehicle continued east on Penn Avenue, where West Reading police took over the chase, following it into Reading when city police finally stopped the vehicle. The suspect, a 32-year-old Reading woman, was arrested and charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, fleeing police and driving with a suspended license. She was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
