Thief of the week -- Feb. 4-10

This week's dubious honor goes to two alleged thieves who were caught mere blocks from the scene of the crime.

THEFT: More than $300 in merchandise
WHEN TAKEN: About 2 p.m. Jan. 29
WHERE TAKEN: VF Outlet, in the 800 block of Hill Avenue in Wyomissing
HOW: Presumably, grabbing the goods and running to the nearby truck.
SUSPECTS: A 41-year-old Reading man and a 30-year-old West Reading woman
PUNISHMENT: Depends on the outcome of their upcoming arraignment.
POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES: Both were charged Feb. 7 with retail theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property. He was also charged with driving without a license.
