North Carolina man charged in assault in West Reading
A man and a woman were arguing and fighting about 11:50 p.m. Dec. 18 in the 300 block of Kline Street in West Reading when borough police showed up to stop the fight. The man pushed one of the officers; that, and assaulting the woman, led to his arrest. Police charged the suspect, a 22-year-old Camp LeJeune, N.C., man, with three counts each of simple assault and harassment, two counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail. The next day, a master sergeant from the U.S. Marines asked that the suspect, who is also a Marine, be turned over to him, and he would ensure the man appears for his preliminary hearing.
