Vehicle break-ins strike West Reading neighborhood after Christmas

The Monday after Christmas, several West Reading residents discovered that someone had ransacked their vehicles. About 2:27 a.m. Dec. 27, borough police along with Wyomissing police officers searched the area of the 400 block of Sycamore Road in search of two suspects reportedly trying to get into vehicles in the alley behind the homes on that block. The two were described as men, wearing dark jeans and dark hooded sweatshirts. Police didn't find them, but they did find a briefcase and its contents strewn in the alley.

At 9:17 that morning, a resident of the same block called police to report that someone had gone through the glove compartment and console of his vehicle. A woman who lives in the 400 block of Playground Drive reported someone went through the glove compartment of her vehicle, emptying the contents onto the floor but not stealing anything.
