Man faces theft charge after trying to pass bad check at jewelry store
A 23-year-old Reading man faces multiple charges after West Reading police said he tried to buy merchandise from a borough jewelry store. The suspect bought several items in the morning of Jan. 4 from a store in the 600 block of Penn Avenue and paid for them with a check on a closed account. Police charged him Jan. 6 with theft, theft by deception, passing bad checks and receiving stolen property.
