Thief’s plan to hide stolen goods beneath trash bin goes awry

In the morning of May 28, a woman saw a man and his son hide something beneath a garbage bin behind a store in the 500 block of Penn Avenue. When she saw the items, she discovered they had been stolen from the store and called police.

Officers arrived about the same time the man was leaving the store again. After the witness identified him as the thief, the officer cited him for retail theft and made him sign a letter acknowledging he had been banned from the store.
