Woman faces shoplifting charges after arrest in West Reading

West Reading police received a call about 2:45 p.m. Jan. 5 of a shoplifter in a store in the 500 block of Penn Avenue in the borough. The suspect had nine previous convictions for retail theft. On her tenth such arrest the woman, a 35-year-old Reading-area woman, was charged with retail theft and escape and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.
