Traffic stops lead to arrests on outstanding warrants

This was not a good week to drive around with expired tags, particularly if you were already wanted:

  • A Wyomissing police officer stopped a vehicle with expired inspection stickers about 9:40 a.m. Jan. 5 on an on-ramp to the Warren Street Bypass in the borough. The driver owed $400 in fines and had an active warrant issued by a Reading district court. He was arrested and cited for the expired sticker.
  • About 11 a.m. Jan. 5, a Wyomissing police officer stopped a vehicle with an expired registration sticker at Spring Street and Crossing Drive in the borough. The owner didn’t have insurance on the vehicle; he did, however have two active warrants for more than $400 in fines and an appointment at a nearby dialysis clinic. He was allowed to go to his appointment but police cited him and had his vehicle towed.
  • A vehicle with expired inspection and emissions stickers was stopped about 2:12 p.m. Jan. 5 in the 700 block of Woodland Road in Wyomissing. The driver admitted he didn’t have an insurance card in the vehicle and was wanted on a $300 warrant. After a constable came to arrest the man, his brother, the passenger in the car, parked it in a nearby lot.
