Man accused of shoplifting from West Reading store

An assistant manager called West Reading police about 1:09 p.m. Oct. 29 to report a shoplifter at the store in the 500 block of Penn Avenue. The employee told police the suspect was combative, but when the officer arrived he noticed “the assistant manager was confused as to the definition of combative,” according to the police report. Nevertheless, the shoplifting suspect, a 66-year-old Reading man, was arrested and charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.
