A West Reading police officer stopped a girl he spotted who was with a man about 11:04 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 500 block of Penn Avenue, nearly two hours after the borough’s curfew. No one younger than 18 is allowed out after 9 p.m. without an adult in West Reading. The girl had violated curfew at least once before. She had been listed as a missing juvenile and was wanted on several unspecified charges, including two felonies. The officer arrested her and she was later taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. She faces a summary charge of curfew violation.
The man smelled of marijuana but he denied smoking any. He tried to toss a bowl behind a flower pot but the officer spotted it. He arrested the man, who now faces drug charges.
