Woman suspicious of man seeking donations for refrigerator

In the afternoon of July 10 a man visited the home of a woman in the 700 block of Wayne Avenue in the borough, asking for money to buy a new refrigerator for his relative. She told the man she only had $7. He replied, “That’s a nice start,” police said. He left after she closed the door on him, but after he was gone she went to the police to report the incident. Officers told her to call back the next time the man shows up and police will handle it.
