On Saturday June 20 West Reading will be busy with Art on the Avenue, a borough-wide celebration of arts and culture. Two stages will have tons of musical acts, as well.
I'm putting in a plug for The Manatawny Creek Ramblers, a Berks-county based bluegrass band. That I like them has nothing to do with the fact the banjo player's my brother-in-law. Well, it might, but trust me: They're worth checking out. They play at 3 p.m. Saturday on the Folk Music Stage.
Later in the day the New Fusion Assembly, a jazz fusion band from Reading, performs at 6 p.m. on the Alternative Music Stage. I'm not related to anyone in the band, so I hope my endorsement is a little easier to take.
