Thief of the week – March 5 - 9

I usually use this feature to recap a police blotter item I've already reported. Call it laziness, call it a lack of effort, call it an excuse to try generating hits without providing anything new to the reader. But today I'm making an exception, and not just because most of the crimes reported this week were drunken-driving arrests.

That is part of the reason, but not the whole reason.

So here is the Thief of the Week, previously unreported anywhere on Borough Blue:

THEFT: A ring
WHEN TAKEN: 4:21 p.m. March 2
WHERE TAKEN: Belden Jewelers in the Berkshire Mall, in the 1600 block of State Hill Road in Wyomissing
HOW: Grabbing the ring and running really fast
SUSPECT: A 39-year-old Philadelphia man
PUNISHMENT: None so far. The man hasn't been arrested or brought before a district judge yet.
POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES: Charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property have been filed against the suspect. Bad karma (one imagines) for whoever receives that ring, either as a gift or a second-hand purchase.
