Thief of the week: Jan. 30-Feb. 3

I was tempted to name the guy accused of stealing $4.13 worth of groceries as the thief of the week, given the proportion of bail to value of stolen merchandise. But instead the dishonor goes to someone who posed an actual threat. Kudos to the West Reading police for catching a suspect in a series of thefts from vehicles.
THEFT: Miscellaneous items from cars
WHEN TAKEN: 12:20 p.m. Jan. 26 and earlier that day
WHERE TAKEN: First blocks of South Second and South Third avenues
HOW: Forced entry into the cars
SUSPECT: A 31-year-old Reading man
PUNISHMENT: Until his hearing, jail time. The man was unable to post $20,000 bail to get out until then.
POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES: Charges of theft, property damage, disorderly conduct. Hopefully a guilty conscience for not only stealing other people's stuff, but breaking their other stuff in order to steal it.
