Thief of the Week: Feb. 13-17

Remember how in Edgar Allen Poe's "Murders in the Rue Morgue," the killer was an animal? This week's champion draws inspiration from that literary classic. Also, this was the week of the Westminster Dog Show, so this seems fitting.
THEFT: A driver's attention
WHEN TAKEN: About 6:38 a.m. Feb. 6
WHERE TAKEN: an on-ramp to the West Shore Bypass in Wyomissing
HOW: Distracting the driver, in ways only canines can
SUSPECT: A dog who loved the car ride perhaps a little too much
PUNISHMENT: No more rides in the front seat.
POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES: The driver – the human in the car, that is – drove off the road, hit a traffic sign and flipped. She required medical attention. No word on if the dog did.
