A man tried to use a $100 bill about 3:29 a.m. Feb 1 at a store in the 500 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading, but the clerk wouldn't take it. The man insisted, and called police when his so-called legal tender was rejected. Officers quickly figured out why the cashier thought the bill was counterfeit: multiple disclaimers on the fake money saying it was fake.
It's possible the customer overlooked these details because, as police noted, he had been drinking.
