West Lawn man charged with shoplifting

Wyomissing police arrested a man about 4:52 p.m. Jan. 3 in the theft of $140 in merchandise from a store in the Berkshire Mall, in the 1600 block of State Hill Road in the borough. The man had been stopped with the goods outside the store, but two others, including a boy, were also spotted making their escape. The last two got in a vehicle and drove off. Police released the man they had in custody and charged him five days later. The suspect, a 47-year-old West Lawn resident, was charged Jan. 8 with two counts of conspiracy and one count each of retail theft and receiving stolen property.
