A woman called West Reading police after discovering her purse was taken about 12:11 a.m. Sept. 11 from a nursing station at Reading Hospital in the borough. The theft apparently took place several hours earlier, as revealed in court documents. On Sept. 27, police charged a suspect, a 35-year-old Reading woman, with offenses that took place Sept. 10 relating to the purse theft. She was charged with forgery, identity theft, unauthorized use of a credit card, two counts of theft and one count of receiving stolen property. The suspect was released pending a hearing in November.
