Drunken-driving suspect waives preliminary hearing

A 34-year-old Sinking Spring man charged in a Nov. 9 hit-and-run crash in West Reading waived his preliminary hearing Dec. 21 in district court. Police said the man was driving a box truck when he hit an occupied parked car and a pole on Penn Avenue in West Reading. He now faces a possible jury trial on charges of drunken driving, driving without a license, failure to stop and provide information and causing an accident involving property. He remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
