Truck driver faces drunken-driving charges after accident in West Reading
A box truck driving erratically about 7:56 p.m. Nov. 9 caught the attention of two women in West Reading, one of whom was in a parked car that the truck had hit. The other woman first told a borough police officer that she’d been following the truck and saw it hit a pole and keep going. The officer pulled over the truck in the 900 block of Penn Avenue in Wyomissing when he learned that the truck had also hit the parked car that was in the 700 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading. Police arrested the suspected driver, a 34-year-old Sinking Spring man, and charged him with drunken driving, hitting another vehicle, driving without a license and failing to give information. He was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
