Car break-ins reported in West Reading

From Nov. 23 to Nov. 25, police investigated seven reports of thefts from vehicles, attempted thefts or damage to vehicles.

Thefts were reported at the following times and locations:
• 9:15 a.m., Nov. 23, 400 block of Oak Terrace
• 8:57 a.m. Nov. 24, 100 block of South Fifth Avenue
• 10:57 p.m. Nov. 24, 100 block of South Second Avenue
• 8:03 a.m. Nov. 25, 200 block of South Fourth Avenue: Garmin GPS device worth about $300 stolen from vehicle; passenger’s side window was smashed.

An attempted theft was reported the morning of Nov. 25 by a man who said someone entered his unlocked vehicle overnight and tried to steal the car stereo. It was parked in the 400 block of Chestnut Street. The theft attempt was unsuccessful, but the would-be thief bent the faceplate and caused other damage to the stereo.

Someone broke the passenger-side mirror on a vehicle parked about 6:15 p.m. Nov. 25 in the 300 block of Pine Street.

Other unspecified vehicles were vandalized about 3:05 p.m. Nov. 25 in the 300 block of Sunset Road.
