New sidewalks in West Reading - UPDATE

On Monday June 8 construction workers had ripped up the sidewalk on Fifth Avenue between Penn Avenue and Cherry Street. Less than a week later, they've put a new sidewalk on the west side of the street.

The work is part of an improvement project, funded by state and county grants, that stretches from the traffic circle in West Reading along Fifth Avenue to Cherry Street. Here's a view from the same spot as Monday's picture.



The wheelchair-accessible curb is a particularly nice tough. More updates will follow. West Reading Borough Manager George Tiller said June 8 the work should be complete by early to mid-July.
